Nanobugs Wins Parent to Parent Adding Wisdom AwardLINCOLN, Neb. (17 July 2007) - Nanobugs, a program designed by a local registered nurse to entertain and educate people about practical microbiology and how to avoid infections, recently won the 2007 Parent to Parent Adding Wisdom Award. The recognition is the only award program to ever be honored by Disney.com and PBS/Kids TV. It was created by Jodie Lynn, an award-winning internationally syndicated family and health columnist and radio personality, and recognizes top-notch educational and family friendly web sites and products. Nancy Haberstich, president and chief executive officer of Nanobugs, and her daughter, Hannah Yates, created Nanobugs to make learning about microbes fun for kids and informative for parents. The overall purpose is to create infection-free families. Nanobugs are microbes such as bacteria and viruses represented by cartoon characters to entertain and educate people. The Nanobugs combine science and imagination to make learning fun. The creator of the award said, "Nanobugs.com has mastered the art of inspiring kids to want to learn while having a great experience simultaneously. Kudos. "Our Family Testers found Nanobugs.com to be extremely helpful, innovative and clearly educational," said Lynn. "We all agree that Nancy's passion in helping to make a difference in the health of today's families is incredible. It's really cool because it makes learning fun, and while that crucial element is a challenge of sort with many companies, it's one of the most important ingredients in achieving motivation in the sometimes humdrum educational process." The concept for Nanobugs stemmed from Haberstich's 25-plus years of experience as a registered nurse, certified in infection prevention and control. She saw ways people could prevent infection if they had accurate information delivered in a unique way. "We are so proud that Nanobugs was selected by Jodie Lynn for the award. It will help us expose more people to the world of Nanobugs and to promote health and wellness through infection prevention," Haberstich said.
